Week 41

Week 41
How far along: 41 Weeks

Weeks to due date: One week overdue

Total weight gain: 38 pounds

Maternity clothes: I’m getting to enjoy them a little longer =)

Sleep:  Depends on the night but overall has been much better the past couple of weeks.  I find myself waking up earlier each morning though. Mornings are my favorite so that just means more time to enjoy the stillness.

Best moment this week:  We aren’t completely done with all of our remodel but for the most part everything is in working condition.  We are done painting and everything has been separated between the new guest room and the baby’s room.  The baby’s room isn’t all set up yet but that’s okay because he or she will be in our room for a little while anyway and our room has been ready for this baby for weeks now =)

What I miss: Being able to wear my shoes.  I seriously only have a few options now that my feet are so swollen all the time. They get worse throughout the day but they start out pretty puffy.

Movement: Yeppers =)

Food cravings: Nothing stands out.

Making me queasy:  I’ve kind of been in a general state of queasiness. I’m not sure if it’s anything specific.  My midwife said that in the last couple of weeks of pregnancy some of those hormones that make one queasy in the beginning of pregnancy come back.

Starting to show:  I’m pregnant and I know it

Gender:  Oh how I can’t wait to know!!! Here are a couple of theories. We are having a girl and she is taking her sweet time to get ready.  We are having a boy and he can’t find his way out and won’t ask for directions =)

Happy or moody:  Both! This has been a week of emotions for me.  I am lucky my husband is as understanding as he is.

Things I've been experiencing this week:  We had two appointments this week.  They did about 30 min of fetal and uterine monitoring at both appointments which means we were able to listen to our sweet baby’s heartbeat for over an hour this week.  I also learned at my second appointment that the pressure I have thought was the baby pressing hard was actually Braxton hick’s contractions.  Who knew?
This week I tried my hand at a prenatal parenting demonstration…. Yes I think I may have made that up… What I did was bake homemade buns. So I demonstrated to our child that you make the dough, let it rise, roll it into buns, place them in the oven to bake….. AND THEN TAKE THEM OUT… Yeah, the kid didn’t get it…. I’ll have to come up with some other prenatal parenting demonstrations and see if they work =)
Also, I thought I should give a quick explanation on our doctoring situation. I’ve had a few people ask questions so I thought I would clarify.  We are doctoring with a certified nurse midwife at a hospital in Fargo.  That way we could have the midwife experience in the setting of a hospital. Kind of the best of both worlds.  We have really enjoyed the experience and the great personal care we have received and I am so glad we went this route.

What I am looking forward to:  Having this child!

Size of baby:  There wasn’t a fruit update this week but my midwife says that the baby is in the 7 ½ to 8 pound range.

Week 40

Week 40

How far along: 40 Weeks

Weeks to due date: 0… baby should be here any day now =)

Total weight gain: 38 pounds

Maternity clothes: All things maternity

Sleep:  Not too bad actually. My cold is better now! Although rolling from one side to the other presents its challenges =)

Best moment this week:  Date night with the hubby =)

What I miss: Not running into things with my belly.  At least it’s for a good reason.

Movement: I am really cherishing these last few days of being able to feel the baby move in this way =)

Food cravings: Maybe pizza =) We’ve had it quite a bit this week.

Making me queasy: Everything this week.  I puked at the sight of a moldy bun. Almost lost my supper when Andy farted in the vehicle.   And have gagged at many other things.

Starting to show:  Oh yeah baby

Gender:  We will know when our little one arrives =)

Happy or moody:  Happy and not too uncomfortable.

Things I've been experiencing this week:  A huge sense of appreciation for the pregnancy I’ve had! I am so thankful that we’ve made it to 40 weeks and our baby is doing well and overall I have felt so good this whole time.

What I am looking forward to:  Meeting our baby.

Size of baby:  A Jackfruit.  That kind of sounds made up.

Week 39

39 Weeks

How far along: 39 Weeks

Weeks to due date: 1

Total weight gain: 37 pounds

Maternity clothes: Maternity Jeans, tops, and cardigans.

Sleep:  My cold has gotten a little better making it easier to sleep at night.  I get up about 3 or 4 times to go to the bathroom though so that keeps me up.  Also, my arms have started falling asleep again so I wake up to no feeling in both hands at the same time.

Best moment this week:  I had great chats with my Grandma Mary and my Dad on the phone today.  I think the best thing was when my Dad said that he hopes that I pop soon.  Exact words!  I am so thankful for my family and the support and laughter they bring.  I am truly blessed!
Another great moment this week was launching a Facebook page called B. Cozy.  I Love to crochet and I am excited to be posting my creations and maybe getting some business from it.

What I miss: I can’t really think of anything besides what I’ve already talked about in previous posts.

Movement: So much.  I think I am going to miss it.

Food cravings: None

Making me queasy: Nothing

Starting to show:  Rub the Buddha

Gender:  We will know when our little one arrives =) Any last guesses before baby comes?

Happy or moody: Happy but this anticipation that is building is a little annoying.  I want the baby to stay as long as he or she likes but I seriously just want to birth the darn little thing so that we can play.
 p.s. I know there’s a lot more to parenting than that ;)

Things I've been experiencing this week:  Well, last night I actually thought that labor was starting.  I had bad back pain yesterday and then at 3:30 this morning had really bad back pain that moved to my abdomen and lasted for about a minute.  It was the same sudden pain that I had a few weeks ago that made me puke.  My midwife said that that was a contraction caused by the baby lying on a nerve so when I felt that again I thought it might actually be labor starting.  So I got out of bed, went to the bathroom, walked around a little, had a glass of water, and then….. nothing else happened.  I am glad that babies come when they want to but not knowing for sure what labor will feel like when it starts is nerve racking.  I’ve read how it might feel when it starts but then I also read that everyone is different and every labor is different so the common things that women feel might not apply. Then other things you read tell you that you will most likely just know from instinct but that you might be incorrect but that’s okay.  Anybody else confused?

What I am looking forward to:  I am looking forward to the joys and trials of becoming a parent.  I am so excited to meet this little one and for my whole world to be rocked by all of the excitement and exhaustion.  I am so excited to hold our baby in my arms and to rub his or her sweet little face.  I am looking forward to my heart hurting because of the overwhelming happiness we will feel but also from the the fears and anxiety's we will surely face.  I am so thankful that we have our heavenly father to turn to and learn from.

Size of baby:  A watermelon
