Week 20. Halfway baby!!!

How far along: 20 Weeks

Weeks to due date: 20 Weeks

Total weight gain: 10 pounds

Maternity clothes:  Yes, I definitely need them!

Sleep:  Pretty good, just some weird dreams.

Best moment this week:  We had a surprise visit from Aunt Evonne and Uncle Dave!  I was soooo happy to see them.  They were on their way to Elgin to visit the farm.

What I miss:  This week I have been realizing more and more that there are many activities that I won’t be able to participate in this summer.  I am enjoying being pregnant and I am so glad we are going to have a baby so no regrets… just some things I will look forward to doing next summer.

Movement: Yep!

Food cravings: Nothing out of the norm.

Making me queasy:  Nothing

Starting to show:   Yeppers! There is definite bump or mound as Uncle Dave said =) I guess he didn’t know we were expecting until they saw us and my baby mound =)

Gender:  We will find out in October when our little one makes his or her appearance.

Happy or moody:  I feel very happy most of the time.

Things I've been experiencing this week:  I have been having a lot of lower back pain that kind of radiates into my butt.  I’m not sure if it’s my tail bone that hurts, if it is nerve pain, or both.

What I'm looking forward to:  We have our first ultrasound this Friday.  I am soooooo excited to see our little peanut!!

Size of baby:  A small cantaloupe.  About a month ago my uterus was the size of a cantaloupe and now that’s how big my baby is!  That just shows how fast things can change in a month and how fast this little gal or guy is growing.

Week 19

How far along: 19 Weeks

Weeks to due date: 21 Weeks

Total weight gain: 8 pounds.

Maternity clothes:  Oh yes.  Motherhood is my new favorite store.  I haven’t had much luck at Target… only a brief and tiny meltdown when I couldn’t find anything.  Andy just hugged me and said “remember… you’re not fat, you’re pregnant”.  It was actually kind of funny and it made me feel better!

Sleep:  I have been sleeping very well!

Best moment this week:  We went to Madison to visit my family for a few days.  It was soooo great to spend time with them! I also got to have coffee with my best friend Amanda!  I Love our chats!

What I miss: Some of my old clothes.  But I really like my new clothes!

Movement: Lots of movement!  Almost every morning when I am eating my breakfast the baby moves around a bunch.  It’s like…. Hey mom! I’m here for breakfast!

Food cravings: Still fruity stuff.  Grape juice and grape popsicles are the best!

Making me queasy:  Honestly…. My pregnancy farts can be a little shocking!

Starting to show:  Oh yes!

Gender: We will find out in 21 weeks!

Happy or moody:  Oh so happy!

Things I've been experiencing this week:  I have been pretty clumsy the last few days.  Not sure what that’s all about.  I just lose my balance really easily sometimes.  No falls, just moments where I look pretty ridiculous.

What I'm looking forward to:  I have been super excited for the summer to start and for our summer staff to get here.  This season is always really busy but it is so amazing to see what God does in the lives of the staff and the campers that come.  It is a true blessing to be working in ministry and to serve alongside my husband in this season.  We sacrifice a lot of free time and energy but it is well worth it so that God can move in mighty ways!

Size of baby:  A mango

Week 18

 Week 18

How far along: 18 Weeks

Weeks to due date: 22 Weeks

Total weight gain: 8 pounds. Whoa!

Maternity clothes:  Yeppers! My typical outfit consists of maternity jeans, some sort of t-shirt, casual or dressy and a cardigan.
My typical outfit.

Sleep:  Great!  I am super tired but I have slept really well!  And I have only been getting up once a night to go to the bathroom so not having so many interruptions is very nice!

Best moment this week:  My sweet niece Lydia sang to my belly.  I watched my 2 nieces and nephew on Wednesday and I was singing to my niece.  She sang back to me trying to repeat what I was singing.  I asked her if she would sing to our baby when it was born.  She got her face right up to my belly and started singing to her cousin.  It truly was a precious moment!

What I miss:  Nothing too much!  I am trying to be content with all of the changes my body is going through.

Movement: Oh yes! Our baby moved extra when I had my nieces on my lap! I think they will get along well as cousins!

Food cravings: Nothing really stands out this week.

Making me queasy:  Nothing =)

Starting to show:  Oh yes!

Gender: We will find out in 22 weeks!

Happy or moody:  Very happy!  It is fun to get nice comments on my rounding belly!

Things I've been experiencing this week: Well, remember how I said my emotions had been in check so far… well… this week not so much.  This was a week of tears.  They were all because of small things and also from the exhaustion I am feeling.  Here are a couple of moments.  I had a meltdown one night because I was tired and felt fat.  That was it but I cried as if some tragedy had taken place.  I also cried one night because I missed my family and didn’t want to have to wait 2 days to see them… yep…. That was it.  No big deal. But it made me cry.  I am so thankful for an understanding husband! And I told him flat out a few times that I just felt like crying and it isn’t his fault.

I have been feeling a little out of my element with this changing body and thinking about how life will change for us but I am excited to take on the challenge.  I am so thankful for this beautiful child that is growing and I am overwhelmed with impatience and excitement to see it, feel it, and just love it even more than I do now! Oh how I can’t wait to be a mommy!

What I'm looking forward to:  Spending time with my family for a few days!  My mom rubbing my belly. I know she will!!

Size of baby:  A Sweet Potato

Week 17

Week 17

How far along: 17 Weeks

Weeks to due date: 23 Weeks

Total weight gain: 5 pounds

Maternity clothes:  Oh yes! This week I boxed up my jeans that weren’t maternity jeans.  It was a little depressing but I will try to work hard to fit back in them after the baby.  For now I will enjoy this baby bump =)  and the cute new clothes that I have!

Sleep:  Better this week!  I am still very tired but overall sleep was good.

Best moment this week:  This has been a really great week.  I finished my bachelor’s degree!  It will be so nice not to have homework anymore!  I can actually read a book that isn’t school related and not feel guilty!

One of my best friends Tiffany came to visit and I talked her in to sleeping over!  It was awesome to catch up on how life is going. We went for a long walk and then later that night we had our friends Tim and Eliza over to have a camp fire.

Dwight and Thelma came to visit. (They are my in-laws)  We had a great time chatting over lots of food and coffee (only one cup a day for me).  We also went on a couple of walks. Thelma helped me get all of the leaves out of my bushes which was a huge blessing.  We raked up and picked up a couple of 60 gallon bags worth of leaves.  My back is sore but the back yard sure looks good!
Andy and Dwight enjoying some coffee. Do you like the cups?!

What I miss:  Drinking as much coffee as I would like without having to restrict myself. Also, I really miss my Mom! Sometimes it’s really hard to be 5 hours away.

Movement: Oh yes, and it is the most wonderful feeling! I can’t wait till I feel it more often!

Food cravings: This week I had a huge craving for coffee.  So far I have only had 1 cup while I jealously watched my father in law drink about 6 cups worth  =)      I’m sure I will have another cup tomorrow!

Making me queasy:  Nothing really stands out this week.

Starting to show:  Yes, YEs, YES! This week my friend Eliza told me that I looked pregnant! It made me feel so happy!  I think I may be out of the “Is she or isn't she pregnant?” stage!

Gender: We will find out in 23 weeks!

Happy or moody:  Overall I am soooo happy!  Andy say’s I’m feistier though.  Whatever that means =) Actually, I just looked up the synonyms for feisty and they are energetic, aggressive, go-getting, hearty, gutsy, full-bloated, lively, and spirited.  I can definitely relate to the full-bloated!

Things I've been experiencing this week: We got to hear the baby’s heart beat at my appointment on Monday.  That sound is so great!  Plus, the baby was moving around a lot which made the Doppler make some swooshie noises.  It was fun to hear our little one doing aerobics!

What I'm looking forward to:  Sleeping without my arms falling asleep all the time.  One night I woke up and it felt like my arm had literally fallen off.  I hope that can’t actually happen!

Size of baby:  An onion.
