Week 38

Week 37
Week 38

How far along: 38 Weeks

Weeks to due date: 2

Total weight gain: 35 pounds

Maternity clothes: Maternity Jeans, tops, and cardigans.

Sleep:  Still not so great.  I still have a cold and I have a pretty yucky cough and blow my nose a lot.  Plus I get up about 2 or 3 times a night to pee so it makes for an interesting night. I have to be pretty careful when I sneeze, cough, or blow my nose…. Especially when I have to pee…. You know why…

Best moment this week:  The last two weeks have been great besides being sick.  Two weekends ago was women’s retreat here at camp and my Mom and my Grandma came.  It was so great to see them and to dig into the word of God.  We were challenged to “Eat the word” diligently.  Messages like this are so important to me because it is something that I struggle with and need to be reminded of.  I go in spurts where I am in my bible every day being filled and encouraged by it and then my schedule changes and that is one of the first things to go.  Andy and I still do our devotions but my personal time with the Lord is forfeited when I am busy and need it most.  I take that time for granted and then wonder why I struggle.  We also talked about the difference between happiness and joy and how we can find joy even in the midst of our trials because of the promises that we have from God and also from what we know about God’s character.

Another great moment was seeing our baby again at our appointment last week.  Our midwife wanted to check for sure that the baby was head down so she pulled in the ultrasound machine.  It will be so exciting to really SEE our baby once he or she is born.  No more black and white. =)

What I miss: My normal non-swollen self.  I actually kind of enjoy the belly but I’ve had a lot of swelling in my legs and face.  My midwife said that’s where this sudden weight gain is coming from.  I feel like a marshmallow puff.  Once the baby is born the swelling will go away so that is actually making me look forward to labor. =)

Movement: Oh yes! It is so fun to watch my belly shift back and forth!

Food cravings: None

Making me queasy: Nothing

Starting to show:  Hubba hubba

Gender:  We will know when our little one arrives =)

Happy or moody: Pretty happy =)

Things I've been experiencing this week:  I’m starting to feel a little impatient.  Not because I’m uncomfortable or don’t like being pregnant but because I just want to have this baby so I can know what the gender is and hold our baby and snuggle our baby and everything else that comes along with the baby.  It’s kind of crazy to think that any day now our little one could decide that it’s time to arrive.  I’ve been a little achier since the baby has started dropping but that just makes me excited that the baby IS dropping and we will meet him or her soon.

What I am looking forward to:  Honestly, I am looking forward to feeling those contractions start or for my water to break and to be able to say “Andy, it’s baby time!”

Size of baby:  Our pumpkin is the size of a pumpkin!  =)

Week 36

Week 34
Week 35

Week 36

How far along: 36 Weeks

Weeks to due date: 4

Total weight gain: 30 pounds

Maternity clothes: Maternity Jeans, tops, and cardigans.

Sleep:  Really bad this last week.  I have had a stuffy nose and now I have a sore throat and a cough.  I am hoping that coughing, sneezing, and blowing my nose doesn’t make me go into labor =)

Best moment this week:  I will share some great moments from the past few weeks since it has been a little while between posts.  My sister spent her last week of summer vacation with us which was fantastic! We watched movies, went on walks, went shopping (We bought a new couch), and just spent lots of time together.  At the end of the week we drove her back to SD and spent Labor Day weekend with my family.  That Saturday my family had a baby shower for me which was great! We are so blessed! The next weekend I went to junk fest with some friends and found some great things for our house. One of those items being a new bench for our entryway.  This last Monday I had a doctor’s appointment which went well and then I had a wonderful lunch date with my friend Carrie. On Thursday I went to Bismarck and had a coffee date with my friend Danielle. It was soooooo good to catch up!

What I miss: Normal clothes…. And knowing that my shoes will fit…so many pairs don’t fit anymore.  All this swelling isn’t very fun.

Movement: So much and I LOVE it!  Sometimes it’s pretty painful but at the same time it’s kind of fun to feel the baby be so strong.

Food cravings: Sprite

Making me queasy: Nothing

Starting to show:  It’s official… I’m huge!

Gender:  We will know when our little one arrives =)

Happy or moody: I’ve been trying to be happy even though I’m not sleeping well, I’m sick, and part of our house is still in shambles because of our remodel project.  We will be done with the project soon though and then I will be able to have everything where it should be which will make me ooooohhhhh so happy!

Things I've been experiencing this week:  On Thursday I bought everything for my hospital bag. Well, hopefully everything I will need.  It’s so crazy that the baby really could come anytime now.  I’m hoping the baby doesn’t come early but it’s exciting to be prepared.

What I am looking forward to:  Women’s retreat at camp this weekend.  My mom and my grandma are coming!

Size of baby:  The baby is the size of a honeydew and may weigh about 5 ½ to 6 pounds.
